Enter a draw to attend our upcoming Goes to Young Engineers Richmond! This exciting learning and socializing opportunity offers STEM workshops for kids from Kindergarten to Grade 7. Date/time: Sunday, June 7, 10 AM to noon PT Schedule: Bricks Challenge (Kindergarten to Grade 3) from 10-11 AM, Galileo Technic (Grade 4-7) from 11 AM to noon Location: Young Engineers Richmond, 11780 Hammersmith Way, Unit 220, Richmond ( map ) Whether you choose the Bricks Challenge (K-Grade 3) or Galileo Technic (Grade 4-7), your Young Engineer is in for an hour of fun, hands-on learning! Bricks Challenge Students will explore key scientific principles through hands-on building and storytelling. Inspired by historical scientists and inventors such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton, and Archimedes, students will engage in activities that introduce them to fundamental physics concepts, including: Centrifugal and centripetal force Force of inertia Kinetic and potential energy Law of action-reaction Lift force, torque, and leverage points Load distribution and angular momentum Students will also practice the mathematical skills necessary for scientific calculations related to their models Galileo Technic Designed for older students, the Galileo Technic program provides an in-depth look at mechanical systems from an engineer’s perspective. Participants will work in teams to build complex machines, exploring: Mechanical, mathematical, and physical aspects of engineering Logical problem-solving and teamwork in construction The fundamental principles behind machinery design and function Information for Caregivers Young engineers can be dropped off five minutes before class. Aside from water, please don’t bring any food into the classroom. If your child has a food allergy, please inform Young Engineers and AutismBC in advance. All classroom teaching equipment used will stay at Young Engineers Richmond. As space is limited, Young Engineers asks caregivers to leave the room during the workshop, but remain on-site until it’s over.
