<p></p><p><strong>Thiqa</strong> ("trust") is the Abu Dhabi Government's health insurance programme for UAE nationals, administered by the National Health Insurance Company (Daman) on behalf of the Department of Health — Abu Dhabi. Coverage is funded by the government — eligible nationals pay nothing.</p><p>
</p><h3>Who is eligible</h3><ul><li><p>UAE nationals (and persons of similar status) holding an Abu Dhabi family book.</p></li><li><p>Coverage is geographically anchored to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with reciprocal access to DHA / MOHAP facilities elsewhere in the UAE under direct-billing agreements.</p></li><li><p>Not available to expat residents or to residents of other emirates without UAE national status.</p></li></ul><p>
</p><h3>What's covered for families with autistic children</h3><ul><li><p>Full inpatient and outpatient care across the Daman / Thiqa network — near-zero co-pay.</p></li><li><p>Diagnostic assessments at DoH-licensed hospitals and clinics in Abu Dhabi.</p></li><li><p>Dental, optical, maternity, emergency (UAE-wide and worldwide).</p></li><li><p><strong>In-school therapy for students of determination</strong> — under ADEK's inclusion partnership with DoH, psychotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy delivered in schools are covered by Thiqa for eligible Emirati students.</p></li></ul><p>
</p><h3>How to enrol</h3><ul><li><p>Complete a <strong>Weqaya</strong> health screening (free) at any participating SEHA primary healthcare facility — this is the entry point.</p></li><li><p>Once Weqaya is complete, your Emirates ID serves as your Thiqa identifier; a separate physical card is no longer required.</p></li><li><p>Renewal is automatic in most cases, tied to your Emirates ID.</p></li></ul><p>
